3i calls in Close Brothers for $500m Olympic deal

Almost 20 private equity firms are fighting to buy Environmental Resources Management, the consultancy which worked on regeneration proposals for London's successful Olympic bid, and where 3i has put its stake up for sale.

Among the bidders are Exponent, the firm started by four former 3i directors in October 2003. Richard Campin, one of the founders, worked on the original acquisition of ERM for 3i four years ago.
