3i Group has appointed its first investor relations executive in the US as the UK-listed buyout firm attempts to strengthen its connections in the world’s largest market for private equity investment.

James Rutherfurd joined 3i as a partner this week from US media-focused private equity firm Veronis Suhler Stevenson. He will be responsible for fund investor relations across North America.
