Private equity executives are tipping 3i-backed shoe group Hobbs as clear favourite to walk away with the rival LK Bennett chain in a deal likely to close at about £65m (€94.8m).

Potential bidders were asked to lodge expressions of interest this week by BDO Stoy Hayward, which is conducting the auction.
