During the summer the Government has been sitting on proposals to reform the regulations for final salary pension funds. It has finally agreed to publish them next week.

We at Deutsche Asset Management have proposed our own scheme. Our plan has three main objectives. First, to improve the attractiveness of final salary pension schemes, which are in danger of extinction. Second, to encourage these funds to invest in higher return/higher risk assets. Third, to provide a better guarantee that people will actually get the pensions they have been promised should their employer go bankrupt.
