Kent Lucken was writing a business plan for Citigroup’s wealth management business in 2002 when something clicked.

Private equity was a hot and growing business, with a few pioneers right where he was, in Boston, like Thomas H Lee Partners and Bain Capital. Working with those firms’ leaders gave Lucken insight into their world, and he saw an opportunity.
