The UK should get ready to exit the Brexit transition period at the end of this year with no trade deal in place; an outcome that could lead to “some turbulence”, according to senior minister Michael Gove.
Speaking to MPs on 19 October, Gove said: “We’ve been clear since the summer that we set 15 October as a target date for reaching an agreement”. He added that he had hoped to “conclude a Canada-style agreement before the transition period ends on 31 December” but that this was not going to happen “as things stand”.
