A virus vaccine will ‘bail out the bulls’, says fund manager

Optimism is not universal, but some commentators are increasingly hopeful that an end is in sight for Covid-19 — providing a huge boost to markets

The imminent development of a Covid-19 vaccine — by mainstream western medical institutions — will push stock markets to new highs, according to one fund manager.

Steven Bell, chief economist at BMO Global Asset Management, part of a Canadian-owned outfit that manages $342bn, thinks that “it does seem likely that we could get a vaccine soon”.
