AA confirms bids from three private equity groups

Iconic British brand would return to private equity ownership under the bids under discussion, having had a lacklustre six years on the stock market

Three groups of private equity bidders are vying for the AA, the UK breakdown recovery and insurance group — potentially resulting in its return to private ownership for the second time in six years.

In a statement on 4 August, the company said three offerors — Platinum Equity Advisors, Warburg Pincus, and Centerbridge Partners Europe and TowerBrook Capital Partners, acting jointly, had each “approached the company regarding possible cash offers for the entire issued and to be issued ordinary share capital of AA”.
