Gareth Jones, the former head of wholesale banking at Abbey National, has joined the board of Kensington Group, one of the UK's fastest growing mortgage provider to borrowers with adverse credit histories.

Jones' sudden resignation in October from Abbey, one of the UK's largest mortgage banks, surprised the City of London. He was credited with building up Abbey National Treasury Services (ANTS) virtually from scratch into one of the leading European financial players in its sector.
