Is there a connection between the performance of the UK property market and England winning the Ashes away from home? Aviva Investors certainly thinks so, if this graph is to be believed. The graph shows the performance of UK real estate over three years after Ashes tours being held Down Under.
It suggests that when England loses the five-match cricket series with Australia when playing abroad, the real estate market underperforms the 8.8% annual average return it has made since 1920. But when England is victorious, the market receives a lift - a 16% pa bounce for three years to be precise.
