Aberdeen Asset Management's head of UK distribution has left the firm to join US asset manager Franklin Templeton Investments, weeks after the company warned of job-cuts tied to its merger with Standard Life.

Martyn Gilbey, who has overseen Aberdeen's UK distribution efforts for the past three years, is going to take charge of Franklin Templeton's retail and institutional businesses in the UK and offshore territories.
