European Technology & Income, one of Aberdeen Asset Management's most disastrous investment trusts, is being quietly disposed of, avoiding the adverse publicity of a liquidation.

If shareholders approve, its sister, Aberdeen Trust Technology & Income, is taking over what is left of Euro Tech, whose downfall signalled the start of the crisis in the split cap sector. The deal will be an all share transaction that will result in many of its investors being virtually wiped out.
