ABN Amro Belgium makes first buyside deal for Tractebel

ABN Amro Corporate Finance's work on Belgian energy group Tractebel's €330m ($292m) acquisition of GTI is the first mergers and acquisition deal the bank has done for the company out of its Belgian office.

The bank started its corporate finance operations in Belgium just three years ago. It has worked with Tractebel on several uncompleted deals and conducted a fairness opinion for the company last year. The purchase of GTI, the Dutch services group, is the first buyside mandate the bank's Belgian office has worked on for Tractebel.
