The legal battle between ABN Amro, the Dutch banking giant, and Thomas Conlon, its former London compliance officer, will intensify at an employment tribunal hearing this week. Lawyers for Conlon are expected to claim that the bank is refusing to produce documents and other material which they regard as highly relevant to his case.

Conlon is seeking compensation for unfair dismissal under the Public Interest Disclosure Act - the so-called 'whistle-blower's act'. The documents his lawyers want concern reports and supporting evidence of investigations carried out both by Conlon and an independent accountant and lawyer appointed by ABN Amro, who were to look into his allegations of misconduct by the bank involving three UK customers.
