Bankers often talk about "integrated banking models" and "providing solutions for clients", but few companies have been as bold as ABN Amro. Last week, the Dutch bank unveiled a new platform that combines several business lines, market sectors and even bonus pools, bringing 3,000 staff under one umbrella.
On the surface, the new financial markets division merely integrates loan products with other fixed-income silos, but this has involved the difficult task of wrapping six different business â credit, structured credit, rates, foreign exchange, portfolio management and sales â into one package.
