ABN Amro has appointed a new head of European equities to take over from Claus Gregersen, who left last month, reports the Financial Times.

The group has recruited Bill Smith, currently managing director of product and head of investment management for retail financial services at Barclays. He will also become head of the European, Middle Eastern and North African emerging markets business. He will begin in March.
