Josef Ackermann, chief executive of Deutsche Bank, pledged today that he will stay on at the bank despite facing a retrial over his role in the Mannesmann executive bonus scandal. A German court today overturned last year's decision to acquit him and five other executives.
Ackermann said: "The great encouragement and enormous support I have received in the last few days and weeks from Deutsche Bank's staff, customers and shareholders has strengthened my resolve to stay at the helm of the bank as spokesman of the Board of Managing Directors and Chairman of the Group Executive Committee."
