Thomas Widmann, the founder of one of Europe's most successful life science start-ups, has joined Munich private equity firm Wellington Partners as a venture partner, to help build its portfolio of companies.

Widmann was a member of the team that founded Actelion, a Swiss biotechnology company, in 1997. Wellington Partners supported Actelion through its initial public offering in 2000.
