There is an "emerging consensus" among regulators, policymakers and market players that the UK will need to give EU regulators oversight of key parts of its financial-market plumbing to keep valuable derivatives clearing services in London.

London dominates the market for the clearing of securities and trades denominated in euros, but since the UK's vote to leave the EU on June 23, various continental European politicians have argued these trades should be cleared within the eurozone.
