Advent agrees £3.8bn deal for FTSE 250 group Spectris as KKR mulls fresh bid

The scientific instruments maker is the latest in a flurry of deals inked by Advent in the industrial and engineering sectors

Advent has agreed to buy London-listed industrial group Spectris in a £3.8bn deal.

However, the stage is set for a possible takeover tussle: soon after Advent announced the deal, KKR said that it is “actively engaged in the advanced stages of due diligence and arranging financing commitments”.
