Advent International, the venture capital group, has denied that it is in discussions to sell its stake in Waterstone's, the UK book retailer, to Tim Waterstone, its founder

It follows reports that Tim Waterstone, backed by PPM Ventures, the venture capital arm of Prudential, is looking to regain control of the book chain.
