Barclays chairman Marcus Agius heads the list of European financial markets executives who are getting to grips with new roles this year.

Agius, one of most respected bankers in the City of London, stepped down as UK chairman of Lazard and succeeded Matt Barrett at the helm of Barclays on January 1.
