Finance companies are still in the “initial stages” of adopting artificial-intelligence technology to upgrade their businesses, according to a new report, with practical difficulties and public fears holding the UK industry back.

Investment banks and hedge funds have upped their recruitment drives for quant and maths specialists in recent years. Goldman Sachs, JPMorgan and Morgan Stanley all aggressively expanded their technology teams over the past 12 months.
