AIG employee jailed for two years for £390,000 fraud

Former insurance claims handler found himself in a ‘hopeless situation’, police say, but must now ‘pay the price for his actions’

An employee at AIG has been jailed for two years for defrauding the City-based insurer of almost £400,000 to fund a £500-a-day cocaine habit.

James Beaver, a claims handler who worked at AIG’s offices in Fenchurch Street, made close to 100 fraudulent payments to himself over a two-year period. He was sentenced at the Old Bailey in London on Monday.
