The debt markets have been a frosty place over the past nine months, and much private equity activity has been put on ice – although small-cap deals have been less affected.

If and when the thaw does come it is reasonable to assume that we will not see a return to the highly leveraged mega-buyouts of 2006 and early 2007, at least not for the foreseeable future.
