Air France and Alitalia in 'low-level' merger talks

Air France-KLM and Alitalia are discussing the possibility of a "low-level" merger just weeks after denying there was any high level contact between the two airlines with a view to a tie up.

Talks between the two national airlines began last Friday without bank advisers, according to Italian newspaper Il Messaggero, which said Air France and Alitalia are discussing a "low-level" merger.
