Alan Brown, formerly group chief investment officer and vice-chairman of State Street Global Advisors, is to replace Richard Horlick as head of investments at Schroders, the UK fund manager. Horlick is leaving the firm.

Brown will join the board and assume some of Horlick's responsibilities on July 5.
