Alcatel fund seeks international flavour with Newton

The £210m (€338.6m) Alcatel Business Systems pension fund has dropped Merrill Lynch Investment Managers in favour of Newton Investment Management.

Merrill, which ran a £130m balanced fund, was dropped when the pension scheme decided to change its investment strategy. The fund said it had decided to run a more international portfolio, for which Newton was better suited. Newton will now manage the fund through a multinational portfolio.
