AlixPartners, the US corporate turnaround consultancy whose clients include WorldCom, has recruited Pippa Wicks as a principal responsible for restoring underperforming companies to profitability.

Wicks, who will be based in London, joins the company from FT Knowledge, a division of Pearson, the financial publisher. She was chief executive of FT Knowledge, where she had responsibility for refocusing the company's strategy.
