Alliance Capital Management, which is set to buy US value manager Sanford C Bernstein, has raked in £116m (€184m) from six UK local authorities in the past nine months.

Alliance Capital, which will have $477bn in assets under management following the merger, is building a niche in cash management for local authorities. In the UK, it has £1.75bn for 51 clients invested in cash and bonds.
