Alliance Trust has said there was nothing wrong with its hire of Willis Towers Watson as its new investment manager, following a strategic review in which Willis Towers Watson played a key role.

The consultancy was one of the advisers that worked on a strategic review in 2016 that helped Alliance Trust to determine its future direction. The Dundee, Scotland-based investment trust later decided to pick WTW as its overall investment manager.
