The loans that come with a much longer leash

Banks lending to private equity in Europe are coming under pressure from alternative lenders that are breaking into the mainstream.

The shift is taking place even though these lenders typically charge more than banks. But in return for the higher coupon, they offer more flexibility, looser controls, more innovative structures and loans that are in effect interest only.
