Alternative asset manager Angelo, Gordon & Co hired a Goldman Sachs partner as a co-head of private equity and special situations in an effort to take advantage of the bulge-bracket talent in the market and to grow the firm’s buyout unit.

Arthur Peponis previously spent 16 years at Goldman Sachs, most recently as partner in the financial sponsors group. There, he worked as chief operating officer and managed the investment banking activities for a several private equity firms.
