American pulses fail to race as Braveheart Day nears

UK interest rates and a possible exit from the EU are grabbing more attention than the Scottish referendum across the pond

Fireworks, brass bands, parades, parties – if you think Americans have forgotten what a big deal it is to achieve independence from England, just look at what they get up to every July 4. Yet it seems that even with the Scottish referendum only 10 days away, most US investors cannot get too excited about it.

It is not that they are neglecting British affairs, but the issues grabbing their attention are where interest rates could be heading under Bank of England governor Mark Carney and whether the UK might vote to break away from the European Union in 2017.
