After six and a half years in the engine rooms of the euro crisis, Pierre Moscovici, the European commissioner for economic and financial affairs, taxation and customs, says it is not enough to celebrate the monetary union’s ability to reform itself.

“The foundations are good and rules have shown they worked,” he says. But he adds that the eurozone is still fragile and flawed, and that without further reforms it “won’t be able to face future economic challenges”.
