Roger Gray is looking forward to taking up the oboe again.

The 62-year-old, who studied music as well as philosophy, politics and economics at Oxford, has spent the past decade in charge of investment at the UK’s largest pension fund, the £67bn Universities Superannuation Scheme. He announced in February that he would retire, a decision that took effect at the end of last month.
