“There are so many different things we need to be getting on with,” Anneliese Dodds says, with an air of mild exasperation.

The Labour and Co-operative Party MP for Oxford East, and shadow Treasury minister, is describing the prorogation of parliament (torpedoed by the Supreme Court a mere three days after our interview at the Labour Party conference in Brighton), or more broadly the endless deadlock over Brexit, but the assessment is evergreen: “We’re in complete chaos.”
