Two leaving events to mark the departures of Bank of England governor Mark Carney and his successor, FCA chief executive Andrew Bailey, this week have been cancelled due to concerns over the spread of the Covid-19 coronavirus.

TheCityUK, the trade body for UK financial services companies, was due to host the event for Bailey on Wednesday evening. In an email to attendees, it said: “In consultation with the [Financial Conduct Authority, the UK regulator], we are cancelling our event with Andrew Bailey, chief executive of the FCA, due to ongoing concerns related to COVID-19 (coronavirus).
