Balls’ rise at Pimco continues despite bond giant’s strife

Pimco CIO Andrew Balls has kept a steady hand on the company’s wheel during a very turbulent time

Pimco may have endured a rocky 12 months but the progress of its new chief investment officer for global fixed income at the bond giant has been impressive.

This time last year Andrew Balls was sitting pretty as Pimco's head of European portfolio management. But following the surprise departure of chief executive Mohamed El-Erian in January, Balls, along with five other executives, was swiftly promoted to deputy chief investment officer.
