Cox takes Aon Hewitt across the great divide

The firm is returning to a pre-Myners model of combining investment advice with actuarial services

Andy Cox, European chief executive at Aon Hewitt, is a man on a mission of reconciliation. He wants to heal the great schism that exists between investment consultants and actuaries in the UK pensions market.

It is now almost 14 years since the Myners Report recommended pension funds separate investment consulting from actuarial work, citing competition concerns. Most consultancies offer both services but, almost without exception, they are now tendered separately and many pension funds use different firms for each role.
