Campaigners and shareholders have hit out at the 569% bonus awarded to Martin Gilbert, the co-chief executive of embattled investment manager Standard Life Aberdeen, calling the payment undeserved and out of touch.
The payout for Gilbert — more than five times his basic pay — comes as the bosses of other large companies, including housebuilder Persimmon and Snapchat, have come under fire over their own remuneration packages.
