Timing, not ousting, catches Barclays investors unaware

Reaction to the UK bank's abrupt change in leadership suggests it was a question of when rather than if Antony Jenkins would be replaced

Investor reaction to the change at the top of Barclays this morning suggests surprise among the bank’s shareholders was driven by the ‘when’ rather than the ‘if’ behind the move to oust CEO Antony Jenkins.

Barclays announced Jenkins' departure in a statement early this morning, with The Wall Street Journal reporting he had been sacked because the board decided he did not have the right skills to turn the bank around quickly enough.
