AOL close to selling Bebo

Criticised acquisition sold for fraction of $850m AOL paid for social networking site two years ago

AOL is close to selling its social networking site Bebo to a private investment firm, according to people familiar with the matter.

Exact terms of the deal could not be learned, but a person familiar with the situation said the price is a small fraction of the $850m (€690m) AOL paid for the site two years ago in an attempt to transform its business by exploiting the popularity of social networking.
