Aon, the insurance brokerage, is reportedly weighing a sale of its benefits-consulting arm, largely comprising the business branded Aon Hewitt, to a US private equity buyer.

Aon is in "advanced talks" to sell the unit, according to a report on Reuters, citing people familiar with the matter. But the newswire also said that the sources had cautioned the outcome of the talks wasn't certain.
