Vedanta critic departs to start own firm

The head of corporate governance at APG, which campaigned against plans by the mining company to drill on sacred ground in India, leaves to set up on his own

The head of corporate governance at one of the largest asset managers in Europe, who was a leading critic of mining group Vedanta in an investor campaign this summer, has left to start his own firm.

Paul Frentrop, head of corporate governance at APG Asset Management, which manages €208bn for Dutch pensions scheme ABP, will officially leave his role on December 31. Rob Lake, head of the environmental, social and governance team at APG, will replace Frentrop.
