Leon Black will resign as chief executive of investment fund Apollo Global Management following an independent review of his ties to disgraced financier Jeffrey Epstein.

The months-long review found that a number of larger-than-expected payments to Epstein were justified. Nevertheless, Black plans to step down as chief executive on or before his 70th birthday on 31 July. He will, though, remain as chairman.
