Apollo follows rivals by converting from partnership to corporation

Trump's 2017 tax overhaul made such a change more attractive for private equity firms

Apollo Global Management said it would convert to a corporation from a publicly traded partnership, following peers such as KKR and Blackstone Group that have made the move with the goal of expanding ownership of their stocks.

The new tax law Congress passed in late 2017 lowered the highest corporate rate to 21% from 35%. That made becoming a so-called C corporation a more attractive option for private equity firms.
