UBS has won a mandate as sole adviser to Arcelor, the world's second largest steelmaker which has launched a $3.6bn (€3.05bn) hostile cash bid for Canadian steel group Dofasco.

UBS is among Arcelor's regular mergers and acquisitions advisers. According to data from Thomson Financial, it has also used Deutsche Bank, Morgan Stanley, BNP Paribas and Merrill Lynch.
