Ashmore Investment Management, the London-based emerging market debt specialist, has added to its portfolio of private equity interests, buying Enron's Prisma Energy International for $2.9bn (€2.3bn).

The investment will be held in Ashmore Energy International, a new entity majority-owned by Ashmore, which will also be used to house the manager's other energy assets.
