Asian expansion and exits help Japanese PE turnaround

Japan’s private equity star may once again be on the rise, according to a group of investors

Japan’s private equity star may once again be on the rise, according to a group of investors speaking at the SuperReturn Asian Private Equity & Venture Capital Conference in Hong Kong on Tuesday.

An increase in exit activity is supporting a turnaround in Japan's private equity market, which many investors avoided for years amid a slow growth environment. Prime Minister Shinzo Abe's economic policies have boosted public equities, making it easier for private equity firms to take portfolio companies public, a trend that's subsequently supporting deal flow.
